Take The Family Snorkelling Around Phuket Island

Phuket- the name instantly conjures up dreams of wide, white sand beaches, palm trees swaying in the tropical breeze, brilliant blue seas beckoning for you to dive in, the sound of lapping waves a siren’s call. It’s not just a dream, Phuket is everything you think it might be, and more, as those fortunate souls who have experienced it will attest. Phuket is Thailand’s largest island, an emerald green Shangri-la set in the sapphire Andaman Sea. If you and your family dream of the perfect tropical holiday, Phuket is the place that will make it come true.

Getting there is easy, just a short hop of a flight from Bangkok. We highly recommend you book your stay in the delightful Family Hotel in Patong Phuket, then their shuttle will be waiting for you at the airport to whisk you away to your very own oasis in the heart of paradise. The family suites are specifically designed to be you and your children’s home away from home, you will love it so much there, you might never want to leave! Even so, the beach calls you, so grab your snorkelling gear, it’s time to dive into Phuket’s greatest attraction, the crystalline waters of the Andaman Sea!

There are a wealth of wonderful sights and fun things to do in Phuket, but today we will focus on the underwater world and go snorkelling! The following are some of our favourite places to see what lies below the waves:

Laem Singh Beach – One of the island’s favourite locales for snorkelling, this cosy beach is lined with palms and rocky outcroppings, and boasts a number of coral reefs alive with gorgeous reef fish. It’s one of the best places for shallow water snorkelling where the kids will feel safe, and marvel at the aquatic spectacle.

Kata Yai Beach – White sands and warm, inviting waters make this a great place for seaside frolics. Yai means “Big” and there is plenty of room to enjoy a picnic lunch and lounge under a beach umbrella. Take some time to relax, but then get ready to hit that water! Boo, or “Crab” Island on the beach’s north end is a top snorkelling location. The coral reef is a marvel, and fascinating sea creatures like sea turtles are commonly sighted there. And yes, there are crabs, too!

Kata Noi Beach – Noi means “Small”, but there’s nothing small about the fun that can be had at this spectacular beach. Fantastic corals are the home to vividly coloured parrotfish and charming anemone ‘clown’ fish that are sure to delight the kids! Don’t miss it!

There is so much to do in Phuket, one visit is never enough! We recommend joining the Phuket Tourist Association to keep your finger on the island’s pulse whilst you are away and stay informed of new attractions and events for your next visit. Once you have swum the warm, welcoming waters of this island paradise, you will be sure to come back for more!
